On the windswept hills of the Lakota Badlands, Sage to Saddle aims to create a safe, supportive space for Native youth from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation through an horse-centered after-school program.The program focuses on horsemanship, horse care, academic support, and cultural connection, offering children ages 8-18 a positive alternative to difficult home environments and harsh winters. By working with horses and completing their studies, students can build responsibility, confidence, and a deeper connection to traditions central to their community's history and survival.
